Jean Grae & 9th Wonder Drop "Jeanius" on Blacksmith

Ok, I love Jean Grae! She is probably the most talented female emcee in the game today. Strike that, one of the most talented emcees in the game, male, female, or martian. Unfortunately she has no gimmick, no significant label backing, and thus no mainstream attention. What to do, what to do?
Well, there is one way to solve this problem. Put her together with a star making producer! Blacksmith (aka Talib Kweli's boutique label) grabs 9th Wonder and prays that he can do for Jean what he did for Murs, and Little Brother. Personally, I preferred Murs' work before he mixed with 9th and I have never been a great fan of Little Brother's combined work. Phonte and Pooh have made some nice solo stuff. But I digress. This is Jean's last chance to break through. If she doesn't do it now she probably never will. "Jeanius" is out everywhere and Jean deserves your attention. Listen to the single "This World" and then go check out the album here. Plus the album cover is a cool tribute to old school hip hop. I dig it!

EMC "The Show" plus video

EMC is a super group consisting of the Midwest's phenom Stricklin, the widely respected Lyricist Lounge duo Punchline & Wordsworth, and the Brooklyn-bred, battle-tested Juice Crew member Masta Ace. After having extensively toured together in 2001, the four became extremely close and both they and their fans recognized their chemistry. The Milwaukee born and raised Stricklin garnered attention in the late 90's while he was signed to Tommy Boy Records and Punch and Words were integral in the success of the groundbreaking MTV program "The Lyricist Lounge Show" and have released EP's both as a group and as solo artists. All three caught the ear of Masta Ace before touring together and all three were featured on his two most recent albums.

EMC started a feeding frenzy in 2007 with the release of the 12" single "E.M.C." and now they finally drop their full-length album "The Show." With more than 20 tracks and appearances by Sean Price, Little Brother, Ladybug Mecca (of Digable Planets), and Money Harm (of Product G & B), "The Show" has been in constant rotation on Hip Hop Flavors on WMNF 88.5 in tampa. And while the album proves to be a showcase of lyrical talents, the tracks themselves guarantee to bang with production by The Are, Ayatollah, Nicolay, Koolade, Quincy Tones, Frequency, and J.

Phonte and Big Pooh may have lost 9th Wonder as a permanent fixture in the Little Brother line-up, but that hasn'tt deterred the Justice League duo from moving forward. "And Justice For All..." boasts guest slots from Cormega, Talib and Mos Def, as well as drops from Oh No and Rhyme Fest. Look out for 'em alongside Laws and DJ Sandman this Friday at Crowbar in Tampa.

Little Brother "The GetBack" Drops Oct 23rd

Little Brother dropped "The Getback" on Tuesday. Big Pooh and Phonte still seem unable to actually break up with 9th Wonder. He produced a few tracks for the album. Same thing happened on 9th's album too. Fortunately Hi-Tek, and Denaun Porter both produce tracks and probably the most hard hitting song "Good Clothes" was produced by Beat Fanatic producer Illmind.

Phonte leaked the album on Okayplayer.com. I'm sure the label loooved that...

Little Brother will be out on tour with Evidence of Dilated Peoples for the next couple months. They'll be in Orlando Nov 27th.

New single from 9th Wonder "Sunday"

In the spirit of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's classic "Summertime," comes the new feal-good summer anthem from producer 9th Wonder "Sunday," feat Keisha Shontelle and Chaundon. Throw this on at the BBQ or block party and get shit started like grown folks do.
"Sunday" is the official lead single from 9th Wonder's long-awaited debut album "Dream Merchant Volume 2," dropping October 9th 2007 on 6 Hole/Hall of Justus. This epic masterpiece features Mos Def, Royce 5'9", Little Brother, Sean Price, Camp Lo, Memphis Bleek, Buckshot and many, many more!

I've never been a huge 9th wonder fan but this single definitely has that lazy summer afternoon vibe and I'm diggin' it.
