EP: Chippy Nonstop - #MONEYDANCE101

Chippy Nonstop is excited to release her new EP, #MONEYDANCE101. The five-track effort, which is co-produced by DJ Two Stacks and GRAVEGOODS, was premiered today by SPIN and is now available for download via Chippy Nonstop's Bandcamp page. The EP artwork is co-designed by Chippy Nonstop and @Cumdrizzle.

#MONEYDANCE101 came together following a recent show in Philadelphia, where Chippy performed as part of the weekly concert series Mad Decent Monday's. "I was with Two Stacks the day after the show and we decided to knock out a full EP," explains Chippy of the one-day process. "We linked up with the homie GRAVEGOODS and his other homie Stephan – we sat down, made beats, and wrote all the songs. It was so fun!"

Chippy is well known to be a satirical observer of pop culture, and, as such, the EP title was inspired by 11-year-old rapper, and recent WorldStarHipHop sensation, Lil' Mouse. "He has this song called 'Get Smoked' and he does 'the money dance' in one scene," says Chippy of the meme-friendly video clip. "It's the cutest shit I've ever seen, and I just so happened to be watching that video the whole week before we made the EP."

#MONEYDANCE101 is Chippy's first release since #GLOBALSKOOLOFTWERK, which was released in April and served as the Dubai-born, Bay Area-based rapper's official debut to the music world. Since then, she's collaborated with the likes of Kreayshawn and Major Lazer – Chippy will appear on upcoming albums from both artists – and #MONEYDANCE101 shows off a continued level of growth and diversity in Chippy's sound. "I listen to a lot of dance music," explains Chippy of her musical inspiration. "I want it to be noticeable that I'm not a rapper; I want to create a different sound, and I want to open minds to a different sound."

The EP's musical diversity is evident on each of the project's five songs. "HOT GYAL," for example, a song that Chippy refers to as her favorite from the project, pulls its inspiration from Chippy's love of dancehall music. Elsewhere, "Bounce" finds Chippy laying a wildly infectious half-sung vocal atop Two Stack's washed out synths and frenetic percussion. "I like this tape a lot and I think it's some next level shit," says Chippy. "Plus there's a Trap Bollywood Metal song! How can you be mad?"

Look out for a feature on Chippy Nonstop in the next "Women in Music" themed issue of Flaunt Magazine.

Kreayshawn Reveals New Single and Video for "Go Hard" from Upcoming Album, Somethin 'Bout Kreay

Rapper, videographer, and artist Kreayshawn revealed the first official single and music video for the song "Go Hard"
from her forthcoming debut album, "Somethin 'Bout Kreay."
The song personifies Kreayshawn's modus operandi to a tee; stay true to yourself and go hard at chasing your dreams. Since announcing Somethin 'Bout Kreay earlier this summer, Kreayshawn has toured Europe, performing at the Hove Festival in Norway, the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium, the Main Square Festival in France, the Pitch Festival in Holland and the Wireless Festival in the UK. While in the UK, Kreayshawn also celebrated the release of her new collaborative t-shirt with clothing brand A Bathing Ape. Now back stateside, Kreayshawn is excited to release her new single "Go Hard."
"With this track, I wanted to inspire people to just do their own thing," says Kreayshawn. Complete with breakdancing furries, fun outfits, and wild animation effects, "Go Hard" makes for a visual feast. "My favorite part about the video is that I always notice something different every single time I watch it. It's like going on a visual adventure." The "Go Hard" video is the brainchild of Kreayshawn in collaboration with design based collective Syndrome, who have created stunning videos for the likes of Eminem, Ke$ha and the Black Eyed Peas. Kreayshawn's wild child lyricism is brought to life thanks to a full-bodied beat from Boys Noize, who produced a pair of songs on "Somethin 'Bout Kreay."
"Working with him was cool, because he's got a different style than what I'm typically drawn to," explains Kreayshawn. "He turned out this poppy, 90s-inspired beat with heavy bass and breakdowns, and I'm really into that."

The distance between The Surface and The Sky is ever increasing, simultaneously, then and now. The scrapheap awaits us as we struggle to balance the burdens of our everyday lives- our sustenance, shelter, spouses, sons, and daughters. I’ve seen the path and its end. Save for the decay, only the music seems a constant- our escape, our protests, our battle cry, and solace. Listen up! credits released 30 June 2012
