Vordul Mega Drops "Megagraphitti" Sophomore LP and Video

So I dropped that Vast Aire track on you last week. Now here is the lead-single and title track from Vordul Mega's upcoming sophomore solo-LP "Megagraphitti." There will be two Cannibal Ox (Vordul Mega and Vast Aire) reunion tracks on the LP and El-P will also be adding production (re-uniting the creative collaboration that spawned "The Cold Vein")!! "The Cold Vein" is the album that arguably established EL-P's label, Definitive Jux as a major player in the indie hip hop world.
"Megagraphitti" was produced by Dev One, who also produced tracks on Vordul's solo-debut.

New Balance "Chinese Opera Mask" Exclusive

New Balance just got funky on that ass like an ole batch a collard greens!!! This shit here, this shit here, this shit here!?!?!?!?! That ole shit wasn't nuthin', it wasn't nuthin'. This shit here, this shit here...
The Asian New Balance design team has already debuted the 576 Chinese Opera Pack (reviewed on Kicks-n-Jams previously right here) but now they've just mixed it up in a blender and delivered a whole new treat for your feet! Drawing on the inspired Leftover Pack theme, (check that right here) New Balance drops a limited version (576 pairs available only in Southeast Asian markets) Chinese Opera 576 that delivers a different colorway for each foot!!! I thought I loved the original opera pack but these have just sent me into paroxysms of shoe geek joy!!!
High quality materials mixed with an overall red and green colorway and combined with multiple Chinese Opera signifiers (check the tongue, mask, heel, and lace lock) set off this well thought out sneaker. STREEThing is gonna deliver an interview with the designers and I for one cannot wait to read it.

Lfstl x New Balance 577 "Rotterdam" limited edition

New Balance has hooked up with Rotterdam shop Lfstl to drop a sweet 577 in Holland. Lfstl chose to re-design the New Balance 577 because of it’s timeless character and sporty lining. It still is an all-time favorite, though hard to get in Holland.

In choosing the material Lfstl reflects their experience in designing shoes and their knowledge of true sneakers. Their favorites are also mine; gum sole, pigskin suede, black premium croc leather, white patent and perforated suede.

The sneaker will be released in August! And will immediately go on my ever lengthening list of things that I want but can't have hahaha...sigh.

Vans "CMYK" Pack

Fresh on the heels of the New Balance x realMad Hectic MT580 "CMYK" comes the Vans "CMYK" pack. It consists of an Era, Sk8 Hi and Mt. Edition Mid. All three come in a flashy colors and materials. I am just biased here but I really prefer the NB silhouettes to the Vans.

The pack is now available at ABC-Mart.

Nike Fukuoka Dunk June 28th

As part of Nike’s Japanese City Dunk Pack, the Fukuoka Dunk will see its release this weekend. The multi-colored offering features a bold colorway with the use of patent leather and etched highlights on the heel. For those interested, the colorway pays homage to an ancient 750 year old festival titled Yamakasa which features colorful shrines. Available June 28th at select retailers in Japan.

New Balance CT '08

New Balance is famous for running shoes. It is their specialty, it is what they excel at, it is their branded flagship. But they drop other styles as well. Here are some new tennis shoe (looks a little like a skate shoe too) colorways coming atcha this summer.

Nike Air Max 95 "Miami Vice"

This post here is DJ Lazy reppin' for Florida! Following in the path of other city centric Nike Air Max 95's, we bring you a preview of the Miami based Air Max 95. The "Miami Vice" Am95 will be available through Shoe Gallery in Miami (244 NE 1 Ave.). No word on further distribution.

Nike BMX Pack

The Nike BMX Pack, consists of two Blazer Hi's and two Dunk Low's. A star design runs through most pieces of the collection. I kinda dig the blazer with the flames. The pack will be released next month, July '08. Via CtotheJL.

Nike LAX Blazer Hi

The Nike LAX LA Exclusive Blazer Hi has arrived in stores. It comes in black suede with a transparent swoosh and large LAX lettering on the side panels. This is a pretty bad ass shoe.

Undefeated California locations got it in this week!

Nike drops "Bird's Nest" and "Polka Dots" at Atmos

Two interesting new Nike sneakers have been released at Atmos. For women they got in the Dunk Hi Premium in black with multicolor polka dots on the upper and nice purple lacing.

They also have the Air Force 1 "Bird's Nest" in stock. The sneaker has been modeled after the new Olympic Stadium in Beijing.

Nike Dunk hi X Medicom

As part of their Dunk campaign this year, Nike got together with Medicom Toy Company to make a pack of three 1 Piece Premium Dunk Hi's. The pack is very playful, just what you would expect from a collaboration with Medicom and of course the obligatory Bearbrick toy is being released along with the pack.

The Dunk Hi comes in orange/purple, yellow/purple and green/white. The Bearbrick comes in orange with white details.

Mita will release the pack on June 28th. (via hi snob)

Etnies Plus x Fucking Awesome

In 1999 Jason Dill and Mike Piscitelli founded Fucking Awesome. It was their inside joke about the world of "streetwear" and the result was a line of pretty recognizable tees and sweats. The early designs were hand printed by the duo, and the now familiar "Fucking Awesome" print was born. Now, the boys meet with Etnies Plus to release a sweet sneaker. Set for Fall '08 the Fucking Awesome logo hits lovely on the heel of the black based hi-top. Images have been circulating for months, and its great to now know when we can expect them! EMC "The Show" plus video

EMC is a super group consisting of the Midwest's phenom Stricklin, the widely respected Lyricist Lounge duo Punchline & Wordsworth, and the Brooklyn-bred, battle-tested Juice Crew member Masta Ace. After having extensively toured together in 2001, the four became extremely close and both they and their fans recognized their chemistry. The Milwaukee born and raised Stricklin garnered attention in the late 90's while he was signed to Tommy Boy Records and Punch and Words were integral in the success of the groundbreaking MTV program "The Lyricist Lounge Show" and have released EP's both as a group and as solo artists. All three caught the ear of Masta Ace before touring together and all three were featured on his two most recent albums.

EMC started a feeding frenzy in 2007 with the release of the 12" single "E.M.C." and now they finally drop their full-length album "The Show." With more than 20 tracks and appearances by Sean Price, Little Brother, Ladybug Mecca (of Digable Planets), and Money Harm (of Product G & B), "The Show" has been in constant rotation on Hip Hop Flavors on WMNF 88.5 in tampa. And while the album proves to be a showcase of lyrical talents, the tracks themselves guarantee to bang with production by The Are, Ayatollah, Nicolay, Koolade, Quincy Tones, Frequency, and J.

Vast Aire "Dueces Wild" Drops June 24

Yep, Vast Aire is back with his sophomore album "Dueces Wild" on IGC/ One Records. If you have fond memories of early Def Jux releases from Cannibal Ox (Cold Vein), Mr. Lif, & EL-P then this record is for you. Don't Sleep.

2000black "A Next Set A Rockers" Debut LP

2000black’s Debut LP “A Next Set A Rockers” is dropping in August! 2000black combines the production skills of 4Hero’s Dego and Bugz in tha Attic’s Kaidi Tatham.

After many ground breaking compilations and sideline projects (”DKD” & “Silhouette Brown”) the sound of London Boogie arrives! “A Next Set A Rockers” is a genre defying collection of studio recordings demonstrating all that has influenced 2000black. Soul, Funk and Boogie are revealed in the bands very own unique style. The labyrinth of 70’s synthesizers and drums create a lavish warm feel in contrast to the current digital age. The duo’s dynamic sound is complemented by strong songs such as “Lost It” featuring the voice of Face, “So Right” with Ferraz, “Simple Sacrifice” sung by Nadine Charles, “Take It Back” with Rasiyah, plus Philadelphia’s Lady Alma on “Move Over”. It's a little hard to believe that they have quietly been making music under this moniker for 10 years!! this stuff is smooth, soulful, and vibey as all hell. Good for cocktail parties and late night after hours chill out sessions.

Release date. late July/August 2008

Bullion "Get Familiar" 7" On One-Handed Music

From London, Bullion was the dude who did that Pet Sounds/J Dilla mix album that I posted about a while back. This tune is from his "get familiar" 7″ on one-handed music. Go pick it up if you're a fan of that Flying Lotus-style, hip hop, instrumental production. Very nice stuff.

Nas' Album Due July 15 Let The Controversy Begin...

Nas is dropping the album that shall not be named by me. It is due July 15, 2008 and will obviously debut to a lotta hype and probably some controversy. I haven't thought much of the leaked material thus far but I just heard "Hero" and it is hittin' pretty hard for me so I figured I'd share with all of you.

I also saw on Glitter And Gold that he and the ever present DJ Green Lantern are dropping a mixtape in preparation for the album. Go over and check that blog out.

New Balance X Mita X Real Mad Hectic MT580 "CMYK"

The 12th release of the collaboration between New Balance, Mita Sneakers, and realmadHectic on the MT580 will be first available in Japan on July 5th. Entitled “CMYK”, the sneaker rocks the classic CMYK colors with some white accents on the sides, ankle and midsoles. I can't say it enough but these MT580s are the dope dope dope shit!! This three way collabo has been goin' strong for years and this is a worthy addition to the line. I would pick this up in a second if I lived in Japan.

Nike Terminator High Supreme "Rock Pack"

Though not for the faint of heart, the Terminator High Supreme of the much-hyped “Rock Pack” is arguably the most dynamic and visually arresting, with detailing that includes gold studding and a tagged camouflage guitar pick. The Terminator High Supreme follows the recent release of the Rock Pack’s Vandal High Ex and Talache and is set for release at Atmos on June 28th, with a pre-sale on June 21st.

The Clipse "Fast Life" Produced By Scott Storch

Following the release of their critical success, but ultimately commercial failure, "Hell Hath No Fury," The Clipse have reconsidered the direction of their music. They sounded flawless over Pharrell’s spaced out beats, but the unorthodox nature of the album’s sound was not received well by the masses. So, in a move that many people might scoff at, The Clipse have been working with Scott Storch on the latest Re-Up Gang record. No one can deny Scott’s ability to produce bona-fide hits, but you have to wonder if his in your face style can translate to The Clipse’s understated flow. Well, wonder no more because “Fast Life” has been leaked and it’s apparently the lead single off the forthcoming Re-Up Gang record. The track starts out with epic swirling synths that drop into a catchy hand clap beat. Malice and Pusha T do damage and seem comfortable on the clean sounding production. Maybe The Clipse were always built for the big times, but only time will tell. The Re-Up gang will be releasing their LP some time this year, stay tuned for more leaks.

Alkaline Trio x Nike 6.0 “Heart and Soul” Air Zoom Cush

The action sports 6.0 collection from Nike has looked to punk band Alkaline Trio to embody the brand’s spirit in this latest Air Zoom Cush collaboration titled “Heart and Soul”. The stylings of the new Dunk-esque Cush relate to the band’s history through the use of unique details and materials. Among the highlights are the Chicago Bulls inspired black/red colorway, in homage to Alkaline Trio’s Chicago roots. Furthermore, reflective accents and bike-tread graphics are a tribute to Alkaline Trio and their meeting as respective bike messengers. The all synthetic upper was chosen to reflect the vegetarian nature of each band member. In the midst of a tour to support their latest album, "Agony and Irony", the shoes will see their initial release with a messenger bag at Jacks Retail Shop (Huntington Beach) on June 27th, with a nationwide rollout on July 11th. For more information check out inside.nike6.com/alkaline-trio.

Reebok Court Force Victory & Pump Omni Lite

A new Reebok Court Victory Pump and Pump Omni Lite is about to be released. They come in a nice summer colorway, turquoise/orange/ white. I like the color combos on these sneakers. The design stays clean and crisp with great little flourishes like the checkerboard design. All in all a nice colorway for the summer.

XLarge Japan stores will be releasing the sneaker on June 20th.

Mita X Asics Gel Lyte III "Kirimomi Project"

The Asics Gel Lyte III has become a popular collaboration sneaker these days. The latest is with Japan's Mita Sneakers. They worked with Asics on the Kirimomi Project, which consists of two Asics Gel Lyte IIIs.

I'm really impressed with both of the colorways on this sneaker collab. I like the splashy quality of the purple shoe but the overall design and cohesiveness of the black on black shoe is the real star of this pack. Nice mix of materials and a real neck breaker for the shoe heads.

Mita will be releasing them on July 12th.

Atmos X New Balance "Face Off" 576 (great day in the morning!)

Once again Atmos gets together with New Balance as part of the 576 20th anniversary collection. The Atmos x New Balance M576 "Face Off" comes in a turquoise/black colorway with pink accents as well as lots of details including printed graphics and embroideries. I love this shoe! The graf style New Balance on the heel is sweet. The shoe changes color according to temperature! I wish I lived in Japan every time New Balance releases a show at Atmos or Mita.

Atmos will be releasing the shoe on June 27th.

New Balance MT580 2009 Preview

Three new colorways of the popular New Balance MT580 (my favorite New Balance) are on the way for 2009. Most allow a bright color burst (white on black will count here) to accent a more neutral base. Designed as a trail runner, the shoe retrains its rugged technical features only to become more street smart with color. Nylon mesh allows breathability, while leather provides strength. (via Freshness Mag).

New Balance 576 "Mexican Blanket Pack"

We have seen it from Nike already this year and now New Balance also released its very own version of the Mexican Blanket Pack. They applied the special materials and stitching on the 576 model. It comes in a black and a grey colorway. The Mexican blanket details appear around the ankle and on the inner sole and lining. I'm not a huge fan of the toe box on this. It needs a different material or something. Colors are ok. I probably would not pick this one up.

The New Balance CM576J Mexican Blanket Pack is now available at Mita.

A.R.C. x Saucony Shadow 6000 Pack

OK, i don't know if I'll ever pick up any saucony shoes but the company is definitely makin' moves in '08. Announcing their presence with AUTHORITY!!! i . like the strong colors and it is a nice runner's silhouette.

Rivington Club (A.R.C.) gives you a first look at their upcoming collaboration with Saucony on the Shadow 6000. Once again it is not just one sneaker, but a pack of three. The Saucony Shadow 6000 was first introduced in 1985. The sneaker comes in a red, blue and green colorway and they are limited to 200 pairs.
All three have a white upper with accents in beige and the respective color. The tongue features an A.R.C. tag.
The A.R.C. x Saucony Shadow 6000 Pack will be released at the end of June, so keep your eyes open for the release dates.

Sneakers N Stuff x Reebok SNS 5000

Sneakers N Stuff from Stockholm ,is at it again and developed together with Reebok the SNS 5000.

"About a year ago Sneakers n Stuff released a sneaker that was inspired by the traditional settlers of Sweden - the Sámi people.

Now they have continued their journey through Sweden and it’s traditions and next stop is Dalecarlia. A province in the middle of Sweden best known for the Dalecarlian horse or “Dalahästen” as they say in Sweden. A wooden horse painted with a teqnique called kurbits. The horse first got carved in Sweden in the 17th century as a toy for children.

In 1939 the Dalecarlian horse represented Sweden at the New York World’s Fair and since then the horse has been a very strong symbol for the country." Via Solebox Blog.

The sneaker will be released on July 25th, is limited to 300 pairs worldwide, and will go for 110 Euros.

Jack Splash of Plantlife Interview

Format magazine has a dope interview up with my man Jack Splash of Plantlife. Go check out the interview and pick up one of the best albums of '08, Plantlife's "Time Traveller."

Download: Plantlife's "u messed it up, so we took it back..."

Here is an excerpt:

Format: You’ve worked on ton of albums including Alicia Keys’ As I Am John Legend’s Once Again, Estelle’s Shine and we will be seeing your work in upcoming works with Missy Elliott and Cee-Lo. Where would you say you have left your strongest mark and why?
Jack Splash: That’s a tough question. I don’t really like to quantify my work that way. I honestly try to make the most incredible music with every artist I work with. That’s why I turn down a lot of work because I don’t want to just be working for the check. I’ve been making good money doing exactly what I love so I want to keep it that way. Almost every song I’ve produced for the artists I worked with have their very magical moments to me.

Me and Cee-Lo are like twins because we’re both bugged the fuck out and want to keep taking people higher. Alicia is just the ultimate singer songwriter and she’s so fun to work with. She’s real similar to me as far as us both being as much into hip-hop as we are other types of music. She was playing me some Janis Joplin songs before we wrote some of our songs. Same thing with Estelle, Solange, Raheem DeVaughn, John Legend and a lot of the other artists I’ve been working with. Every single one of them have magical moments that I wouldn’t trade for anything. The most important thing to me is that I have fun making the music, because at the end of the day that’s what it is really about.

Reebok Reverse Jam

With a neon pink upper, yellow accents and a speckled mid-sole, the Reebok Sport Pack Reverse Jam sports one of the most aggressive color-ways of summer '08. Of course DJ Lazy is feelin' the flamboyant colors but I'm really postin' this for my man Mr. Mess who loves ta rock the Reeboks. Samples of the shoe have been floating around for a while, but confirmation of a near release (this month) has now surfaced. (via complex)

Metermaids Drop "Nightlife" Full Length

Metermaids (emcees Sentence & Swell) are equally comfortable in an emcee cypher or on an indie dancefloor. This is a refreshingly listenable record with both enough lyrical prowess for the hardcore backpacker and plenty of synth lines and sing along choruses. "Nightlife" gives me hope for indie hip hop! (that isn't somehow connected to Def Jux or Rhymesayers) Go and pick up the record and check out this single.

New Balance 820 Black/Orange/Red

Just ran across this NB 820 over at Bingo Runner. Hadn't seen any news or blogs about it but if you click on the pic for a larger view you can see that it has some similar detailing to the New Balance "Elephant" pack that I posted about a few months ago. A nice looking, strong shoe. If the front upper was mesh or some other material then I'd really be all over this one.

Tame One Drops "Da Ol' Jersey Bastard" July 29th ft Del

Tame One's new album “Da Ol Jersey Bastard,” an ode to Wu Tang’s ODB, will hit stores on July 29, 2008 via Amalgam Digital. The album will be entirely produced by Drum and Knowledge of Parallel Thought, and will feature just two guest rappers, Sean Price and Del The Funky Homosapien. This effort will serve as a prelude to Tame’s next project, an ambitious download-only album tentatively titled “Acid Tab Vocab.”

Download: Tame One's "Catch me" ft Del (new download via zshare)

here is a little more info on Tame One:

In the 90’s, Tame One was one half of the critically acclaimed underground hip hop duo, The Artifacts (along with collaborator El Da Sensai). Along with his unique flow, Tame also received attention for being a prominent graffiti artist in New Jersey, something he rapped about on “Wrong Side of Da Tracks” the single off the Artifacts debut album that became a bona fide hip hop classic. Since The Artifacts disbanded, Tame has continued to earn respect from peers and hip hop heads through his work with the Weathermen (including Aesop Rock, Breeze Brewin, Cage among others) as well as by collaborating with artists like Busta Rhymes and Kool G Rap.

Both upcoming albums hint at Tame’s personal progression. Over the years Tame has become an eccentric, rapping less about graffiti and more about the mind expanding qualities of drugs. His sound has become more organic and wild, something that will keep fans on their toes.

Exclusive bonus tracks will be included with the digital version of the album when purchased from Amalgam’s online store: www.AmalgamDigital.com
